Volunteer Indoor Track Classic to Change Location and Name

For Immediate Release, Knoxville, Tennessee - 10/11/07

The Volunteer Indoor Track Classic will change both its name and its location for 2008. The indoor track meet which was part of the Knoxville Track Club's Volunteer Series of events will change its name to the KTC High School Indoor Track Classic and will be held at East Tennessee State University's mini-dome in conjunction with the Niswonger Collegiate Invitational Meet. The new meet date will be January 18-19, 2008.

Unfortunately, due to stipulations on the use of Stokely Athletic Center at this time, we were unable to host the event this year, said Gary Wyant, senior associate athletics director for UT.  We've enjoyed a long partnership with the Knoxville Track Club, and we look forward to being able to host this event again in the near future. "We are grateful for the many outstanding meets we were able to host at Stokely Athletics Center and look forward to working with UT in the future to bring the meet back to Knoxville commented meet director and KTC Youth Athletics Director Marty Sonnnenfeldt".

We also appreciate the willingness of ETSU the Niswonger Foundation and Coach Dave Walker to work with us in keeping the meet intact for the future added Sonnenfeldt. Without their cooperation we would have had to let the meet disappear.
