COACH O REGISTRATION UTILIZED FOR LARGEST AAU TRACK AND FIELD JUNIOR OLYMPICS

DETROIT, Mich.- Nearly 10,000 of the country’s best young athletes traveled to Detroit, Mich., July 26 through Aug. 2, for the largest Track and Field Junior Olympics in AAU history where Charles “Coach O” Oliver served as meet director and provider of on-line registration services.

Coach O Registration was selected to serve as the primary on-line registration tool for the event for the second straight year. Last year’s meet was held in Oliver’s hometown of Knoxville, Tenn., and included approximately 8,500 athletes.

As meet director, Coach O had the pleasure of working with a staff of over 150 of the best officials and volunteers in track and field. In collaboration with the Detroit Sports Commission, Coach O and the management staff were responsible for recruiting, scheduling and supervising the officials, as well as all of the day-to-day charges of running a meet.

Coach O Registration has already been used for hundreds of youth and collegiate meets as a way for athletes to speed up the registration process by doing it on-line. In addition to the 2007 and 2008 AAU Junior Olympics, other large track and field meets which have utilized Coach O’s on-line registration process include the AAU Youth Cross Country National Championship (Virginia Beach, Va.), the West Coast Junior Olympic Games (Reno, Nev.), the USATF Arizona Regulation (Chandler, Ariz.) and the Festus TigerTown Invitational (Festus, Mo.) as well as numerous other NCAA, AAU and USATF Championships.

Along with the widely popular on-line registration tool, the event management division of Coach O’s track and field service is also growing. Coach O has recently been appointed co-meet director for the 2009 NCAA Mideast Regional at the University of Louisville next May. Coach O recently served as the Event Coordinator for the UCF Invitational hosted by the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Fla.
