Kentucky State Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Clinch West Division Titles at 2012 Thorobred Stampede
FRANKFORT, Ky. (October 12, 2012) – Today marked the Second Annual Thorobred Stampede Invitational, and like last year, Kentucky State’s Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams used the home crowd to their advantage. The 2012 Thorobred Stampede Invitational was held at the Libraries and Archives in Frankfort, Ky. and was sponsored by Coach O (Bags by Coach O, Coach O Registration, Coach O Event Management).
As in 2011, the Thorobred Stampede also serves as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference West Division Title race the Thorobrettes and Thorobreds left the course today as West Division Champions again.
Denita Brown and Kieren Broussard continued their domination this season as both were the top-finishers for KSU at today’s meet. Brown finished the women’s 5K in sixth place overall and first place in the West Division Title race with a time of 25:04.22, while Broussard finished the men’s 8K in eighth place overall and first place in the men’s West Division Title race with a time of 29:28.67.
Kristina Record finished the race in 26:31.55, good for ninth place overall and second in the West. DeJanee White finished 12th overall and fourth in the West race with a time of 27:22.24, while Amber Hutchison finished 14th overall and sixth in the west with a time of 28:02.97. Asia DuBose rounded out the women’s race for the Brettes, finishing the 5k in 29:53.64 and 11th in the West Division race.
In the men’s race, Austin Dillow followed Broussard across the finish line, running the 8K in 30:21.18 and in 12th place overall, second place in the West Division race. Martin David-Jacobs placed 22nd overall and sixth in the West race with a time of 32:48.36. Quincey Johnson and Carlos Smith rounded out the race for the Breds, placing eighth and ninth in the West Division race with times of 33:40.34 and 33:50.37, respectively.
