TROY, Ala. - The results in the pole vault competition in the men's and women's pole vault for the Coach O Invitational at Troy University on Saturday have been changed due to a discrepency.
According to meet director, and assistant Troy University track and field coach Tommy Barksdale, the heights were incorrectly transferred from the paper scoring sheets to the computer for the official results. After going through and verifying the paper results, the discrepencies were found; meaning that Mike White of Florida A&M and Joseph Callaway of Troy just misssed qualifying for the NCAA Regionals. They were reported as making the regional qualifying mark of 5.00 meters on Saturday afternoon after the meet.
The corrected results still have White winning the event with a height of 4.45 meters, while Conrad Blunck of Birmingham-Southern finished second with a height of 4.30 meters, followed by Callaway with a height of 4.30 meters.
Meanwhile, on the women's side, Aly Goldfarb of Birmingham-Southern cleared a height of 3.55 meters, while Brittany Mattrela of Auburn cleared a height of 3.25 meters to finish second in the event.
